An agent is a artificially intelligent whole, which is able to perceive its aims and adjust its actions according to them. The intelligence of agents is, however, still in very rough level compared to human intelligence. They are able to cope with some very precisely defined and simple tasks. On the other hand, best agents can even reform a search, for exaple according to patterns they have learned from the user.
